Overview

• Hunt for the Crown is a strategic board game designed for two players.

• The central objective of the game is to seize control of a royal crown, which is initially positioned in the very center of the playing board, and successfully transport it into one’s own castle.

• Every move, capture, and strategy revolves around this single, decisive goal.

Game Objective

• The crown begins in the middle of the board.

• Each player attempts to move a piece onto the crown’s square in order to claim it.

• The ultimate objective is to carry the crown back into the player’s castle, located on their side of the board.

• Alternative victory conditions include capturing all opponent pieces or blocking all remaining pieces so that the opponent cannot make a legal move.

Movement Rules

• Players move their pieces in alternating turns.

• Movement can occur in three different ways: horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.

• The number of squares a piece may move is determined by counting how many pieces in total (both friendly pieces and opponent pieces) are standing in the same column as the moving piece.

• This unique rule creates shifting patterns of movement and demands careful planning.

Crown Possession

• If a piece lands on the square that contains the crown, the piece immediately gains possession of it.

• From that point onward, the crowned piece is restricted and may only move horizontally or vertically; diagonal movement is no longer permitted.

• If the opponent captures the crowned piece, possession of the crown changes instantly.

Winning Conditions

• Victory is achieved by moving the crowned piece into the player’s castle square.

• Alternatively, a player can win by removing all of the opponent’s pieces from the game.

• A third route to victory is achieved by immobilizing the opponent, leaving them with no legal moves available.

Q: How do you win the game?

A: There are three ways to win. You can carry the crown into your own castle, eliminate all of your opponent’s pieces, or trap your opponent so that they have no legal moves left.

A: The crown always starts in the exact middle square of the board, acting as the main prize players compete for.

Q: How do you pick up the crown?

A: To claim the crown, one of your pieces must move onto its square. The piece immediately becomes the carrier of the crown from that moment forward.
