The Niantic Wayfarer App enables Lightship Developers to map the world for VPS

The Niantic Wayfarer App enables Niantic Lightship Developers to create scans that contribute to Niantic's worldwide Visual Positioning System (VPS). Developers of the Lightship platform can use the app to create Private VPS Locations which are useful for rapidly testing their apps in development. Users may also contribute scans of real-world locations directly to Niantic's 3D map of the world, which may be used by other Lightship Developers.

App feature:

Niantic Wayfarer is a unique social mapping program that allows players to directly shape real-world adventure experiences in all Niantic games. By participating in Niantic Wayfarer, explorers can become part of the community and contribute to the development of Niantic's real-world maps, which are the foundation for all Niantic games.

As a Wayfarer explorer, you can nominate new Wayspots in the community, view candidate locations proposed by others, and contribute information to or edit existing Wayspots so that Niantic maps can evolve in parallel with the real world.

Earn Wayfarer rewards and join a global community of people interested in movement, exploration, community and discovering new Wayspots around the world.

Pokémon GO players with level 37 and above and Ingress players with level 10 and above can participate in this program. More Niantic games will be able to contribute to the Wayfarer project in the future.
