We're excited to announce an update to 2GIS, as we found it challenging to incorporate all the information about the city and local businesses in the previous version of the app.
The new 2GIS features a redesigned interface, an enhanced search function, improved city updates, and a merger of favorites with 2gis.ru.
Services, Addresses, and Companies
• 2GIS knows which provider serves your home, where to find the nearest district hospital or post office, and can help you choose a café or service center based on reviews and photos.
• It also provides opening hours and contact numbers.
Transport and Navigation
• If you're driving, 2GIS offers turn-by-turn voice instructions to guide you along your route while accounting for traffic jams and road blockages.
• If you stray from your planned path, it will update your route accordingly.
• For pedestrians, it identifies various public transport options, including buses, metros, trains, cable cars, and river trams.
Walking Routes
• Pedestrian navigation ensures you can navigate on foot seamlessly.
• It operates in the background and provides voice guidance for easy navigation.
Friends on the Map
• You can now locate your friends and children on the map!
• 2GIS displays their real-time locations, and you have the control to manage who can see your location through settings.
Building Entrances
• To easily find the entrance to any business center, simply check 2GIS.
• The app has entry information for 2.5 million companies, ensuring that you can get route directions directly to the entrance, whether you’re traveling by public transport or driving.
Shopping Center Plans
• 2GIS assists you in navigating inside shopping centers, showing everything from shops and cafés to ATMs and restrooms.
• This helps you find places in advance to save time.
2GIS Beta Notifications Companion App
• For those with Wear OS smartwatches, the 2GIS beta notifications companion app is a convenient tool for navigating routes on foot, by bike, or via public transport.
• It provides maps, maneuver hints, and vibration alerts as you approach turns or destination bus stops.
• The companion app starts automatically when you activate navigation on your phone and is compatible with Wear OS 3.0 or later.
By participating in the beta, you will receive the latest updates as bugs are fixed, and you’ll be contributing to the development of the upcoming version of 2GIS, which will be used by millions.
There's no need to uninstall the original version—the beta can operate simultaneously with it, allowing you to switch between them easily.
