Instructions for use
Turn on your camera and start your Seek journey!
Found a mushroom, flower or insect and don't know what it is? Turn on Seek's camera and see if it recognizes you!
Seek will combine millions of species observation records on iNaturalist to give you a list of common insects, birds, plants, amphibians and other creatures in your area. Use Seek's camera function to scan your surroundings and identify species with the help of species evolutionary trees. Add different species to your observations and learn all about them in the process! The more observations you make, the more badges you will earn!
This is a great app for families who want to spend more time exploring nature together, or anyone who wants to learn more about the life around them.
Our image recognition technology is based on observations submitted to iNaturalist.org and partner sites, and identified by the iNaturalist community.
Safe for kids
Seek requires no registration and does not collect any user data by default. If you choose to log in with an iNaturalist account, some user data will be collected. But you must be over 13 years old or have your parent's permission.
Seek will ask for permission to turn on location services. However, your location is masked to respect your privacy while still providing information about species in your general area. Your exact location is not stored in the app or sent to iNaturalist unless you log in to your iNaturalist account and submit your observation report.
